The Ministry of Health and Zia-ud-Din Enterprises Private Limited have singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create awareness among the masses on health related issues through a Health TV channel. The MoU was singed here on Monday between the two parties. Dr Rasheed Juma Director General Health and Professor Zaffar Abass of Zia-ud-Din Enterprises.
According to the agreement, the 'Health TV Channel' will broadcast Health Ministry's all public awareness programmes free of cost, as it is desirous of promoting health education among the general public. The parties have reached the understanding, recognising the role of electronic media in promoting education and its reach to the general public:
According to MoU, the scope of co-operation will be limited to health related software that the first party (Health Ministry) will provide to the second party (Health TV) for running the same on its channel. The software may include, health related educational programmes, promos, talk shows, documentaries and other related content. Health TV will broadcast these programmes etc as per time duration and schedule agreed between the parties.
The TV channel will obtain permissions (if so required under the law) from the concerned authorities. However, the Health Ministry shall facilitate and support the TV channel in obtaining any such permission. In this regard Health Ministry will also facilitate the TV channel to form linkages and collaborate with international agencies committed to healthcare.
Both the parties will facilitate each other in all related matters and new ideas to promote the above-stated objectives. According to the agreement Zia-ud-Din University Karachi, ie the third party will provide the technical assistance on health issues.
The parties shall nominate their focal persons for implementation of this MoU and form a joint committee in this regard. The joint committee so formed shall meet on regular basis. However, either party may request review of this MoU or suggest amendment in the above, which shall be agreed upon in writing and signed by the parties.
