At least two dacoits were killed, while a police constable sustained serious injuries in two police encounters in different areas of the city on Wednesday. According to police, two unidentified armed bandits stopped one Shahzad near Mazar-e-Quaid at around 8:35am and deprived him of his cell phone and cash.
The victim immediately informed the police party patrolling the area that followed the fleeing dacoits and an encounter took place near Jail Chowrangi, New Town, police added. Resultantly, two dacoits whose identity could not be ascertained till filing of the report were killed. Two TT pistols, three snatched cell phones and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their possession.
The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate and Medical Center (JPMC) for post-mortem investigations, the officials at Jamshed Quarters said. In another incident, a police constable was seriously injured when he received a bullet during an encounter in Quaidabad police limits. Police said that three dacoits were looting the citizens in Bhain Colony and they opened straight fire when they saw a police party. Police Constable Iqbal received a bullet in his left leg however, the bandits managed to flee from the crime scene.
