Argentine soya prices hold steady

Argentine soya's closing prices and trends on Friday: In the main grains market of Rosario, soya prices held steady at 950 pesos ($245) per tonne despite losses in the benchmark Chicago futures market, traders said. They said the only minimal losses in the August CBOT contract kept local prices firm.
Trade volume shrank to between 5,000 and 7,000 tonnes from about 10,000 tonnes in the previous session. US soya futures closed lower on talk the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) might raise its forecast for soya area. Rosario soya for delivery in May 2010, which is quoted in US dollars, closed at $220 per tonne compared with between $221 and $223 on Thursday.
