A violent mob of Shiites put hurdles on the Shershah-Kundian section at Kotla Jam as a protest against the sectarian killings in Dera Ismail Khan. Divisional Superintendent Railway Multan Khalid Amin said that "Train service on Shershah-Kundian section remained suspended for nine hours because angry mob of a sectarian group blocked the track and damaged the railway installations at Kotla Jam railway station in Bhakkar district."
He further said, "we had removed all hurdles and restored traffic in the evening on Wednesday. More than 3000 protestors beseiged the railway station Kotla Jam at 1100 am on Wednesday. Police and administration reached at site and they appealed to the demonstrators to remain peaceful and calm. However, they put the wood on the tracks and observed sit-in. Resultantly 129-UP Thal Express, 130 down Thal Express, 319-UP Mari-Indus and other trains detained at different stations. Thousands of passengers stranded at railway station. They ended their sit-in at 0800 PM and dispersed peacefully.
