Sindh Chief Minister, former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota, has taken strong notice of escape of prisoners from various judicial lockups in the province by taking advantage of recent violent disturbances.
Taking immediate action on chief minister's directive, the Home Minister, Akhtar Zamin ordered immediate registration of FIRs against 139 police officials and personnel, 9 superintendents and 9 jailers posted at lockups in Warah, Panu Aqil, Kambar, Shahdadkot, Thul, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Thatta and Hala on charges of negligence and carelessness. He ordered their suspension and immediate arrest.
Akhtar directed the senior officials that all escaped prisoners be immediately arrested and looted arms be recovered from them. Meanwhile, the minister informed that out of 391 escaped prisoners, 91 have been rearrested. He directed Sindh police to take such preventive measures whereby such incidents do not recur in future.
