Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota has said that life has completely normalised in the province. However, he directed, all possible steps be taken in the light of President's directives for maintaining peaceful conditions and government will not hesitate in taking action against criminals under the law.
Chairing a high level meeting at Chief Minister House, Justice Halepota said the government is thankful to the people of Sindh who on our appeal helped in bringing normalcy back and no untoward incident took place in the Province during the last two days. Declaring that no one would be allowed to disturb law and order, he directed that all possible steps be taken for holding free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections.
The caretaker government is impartial, he said and directed the police to ensure safety of the life and property of people and government properties. He said in the light of President's clear directives, a strategy is being prepared whereby incidents like those of recent past could be avoided. The Chief Minister also chaired a meeting to improve the standard of education.
The Chief Minister directed that steps be taken for raising the quality of education in the Province, particularly in government schools which he will himself visit. It was decided to establish English-medium schools in various districts so as to encourage government schools in comparison to private institutions.
The Chief Minister also held a meeting with the sugar mill owners and discussed their problems. The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Sabhago Khan Jatoi and cane commissioner Akbar Leghari. Meanwhile, Chief Minister said that Sindh Government had so far released 200 persons arrested during violence. He said the lists of journalists against whom FIRs were registered are being reviewed.
He assured that no innocent person would be implicated in cases and no injustice will be allowed to be done to anyone. Justice Halepota said besides journalists, cases of political workers too are being reviewed. He said that a survey of the losses caused in the province during recent disturbances is in progress and after its completion the losses will be compensated.
