Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan has said that the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) would provide compensation to heirs of those who lost their lives due to electrocution in the city during recent rains.
He said this while talking to newsmen at II Chundrigar Road after five-hour long visit to different parts of the city here on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Sindh Minister for Environment and Alternative Energy, Dr Saghir Ahmed, Sindh Home Advisor, Waseem Akhtar, City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal and KESC chief. He said that windstorm and heavy rains in Karachi uprooted electric poles, trees and billboards, which caused scores of deaths.
He said the situation in the city was bad but due to timely action by City District Government Karachi (CDGK), it was improving now. He expressed grief and sorrow over loss of lives in the province due to torrential rains and said it was a natural disaster. The Governor also visited KESC centres and inspected measures taken by it to provide relief to masses.
