Maulana Abdul Aziz of Lal Masjid has warned that he will issue a decree of Jehad if the government failed to withdraw contingents of Rangers and Elite Force from the neighbourhood of the masjid. He said the government had deployed rangers and contingents of elite force around the mosque for possible operation.
A large number of rangers personnel have been shifted to Aabpara Community Center, while tents are being erected at the place of Sunday Bazaar. Observers said that the steps of the government were aimed at taking strict action against the Lal masjid.
The police personnel deployed in the area show their reluctance to say anything about the operation. The district administration has closed all the roads leading towards the mosque and traffic has been diverted to other alternative routes.
The Jehadi songs are being played at loudspeakers of the mosques. Maulana Abdul Aziz has also appealed to the people of the area to help the mosque in this critical situation.
