The DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri has directed the management of Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) to adopt foolproof strategy with all precautionary measures by June 30, 2007 so that any eventuality of heavy rainfall during forthcoming monsoon could be faced successfully.
This he directed while inspecting sewerage pumping machines and on-going de-silting works of open drains in Qasimabad, Latifabad and Hyderabad city and to ensure that the directives issued by District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil for adoption of precautionary measures to meet rain emergency were being implemented properly.
Talking on the occasion, the DCO asked the Director General HDA and Managing Director Wasa to put all machinery and skilled staff in the field and get all the pumping machines as functional, surface and sub surface drains de-silted and all the water pumping machines repaired by June 30.
He said that in anticipation of heavy downpour, rain emergency would be declared and asked the management concerned to get themselves prepare to meet the requirements during the time of rain emergency. He asked the authorities of HDA to identify the areas where any eventuality could be expected and adopt extra-ordinary and foolproof arrangement for storm water disposal in such a way so that losses of public or private property could be avoided. He said that emergency centers be established in different areas of each Taluka with a view to resolve the public complaints of immediate nature.
