Former Sindh chief minister and a PPP stalwart, Syed Abdullah Shah, 70, died of cancer at Ziauddin Hospital, Clifton, here on Saturday, family sources said. He has left three daughters, two sons, a widow and a large number of political companion, colleagues and well wishers to mourn his death.
His burial would take place in his native village Jhangara-Bajar, District Dadu. Late Abdullah Shah had left Pakistan after the National Accountability Bureau chased him allegedly on politically motivated charges. He lived in different countries. It was only about two weeks ago he had come to Pakistan and was granted interim bail in NAB cases on medical grounds.
He remained Sindh chief minister under PPP government from 1993 to November 1996. Earlier, he held the position of Speaker Sindh Assembly from December 1988 to August 1990.
Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has condoled his death. Rahim in a message of condolence to late Abdullah Shah's son MPA Syed Murad Ali Shah has prayed for the departed soul that Almighty God rests his soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to his family to bear the loss.
