imageISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawazs counsel Shahid Hamid informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday, that his client does not own any property abroad and the London flats belong to her brother Hussain Nawaz.

A five-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed hearing of the Panamagate case. The bench including Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Ijaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Hasan, was hearing the case against the family members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Shahid Hamid while responding to allegations of the prosecutors said that that Maryam Nawaz does not own any property abroad and the London flats belong to her brother Hussain Nawaz.

Earlier he had challenged the judicial jurisdiction for trial of Maryam Nawaz in the Panama Leaks case. In his reply he had stated that Maryam Nawaz is not the beneficial owner of the London Flats. The counsel argued that even though Maryam Nawaz is the Prime Ministers daughter she does not hold a public office and is like any other citizen.

The court asked for details of the division of property among Nawaz Sharif's heirs from his lawyer.

Maryam Nawazs counsel Shahid Hamid told the court that Nawaz Sharif had written on nomination form that he lives in his mothers house.

Justice Khosa remarked that Maryam Nawaz is being accused of concealing assets. Counsel Shahid Hamid said here, the question is not of constitutional disqualification.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed inquired from Hamid as what happened to the Sharif familys inherited properties after Mian Shairfs death. To which the counsel replied that there was no dispute in the family about the family properties.

Upon this, the bench sought details of the distribution of inherited property after the demise of Mian Muhammad Sharif.

The bench is hearing petitions seeking disqualification of the prime minister over the investments made in offshore companies by members of his family.

It is to be mentioned here that during the hearing on Tuesday, the JIs counsel completed his arguments. Whereas, the Prime Ministers lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Naeem Bukhari and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid have already completed their arguments.
