How Misbah overcame his biggest loss?

Published November 26, 2016 Updated November 26, 2016 11:42am

imagePakistan Test skipper Misbah ul Haq has become the most successful captain for the country, overtaking the legendry Imran Khan, but not everything was rosy for the 41 year old.

Who can forget the fatal scoop shot Misbah played in the finals of 2007, T20 World Cup against India which was caught and with the chances of Pakistan World Cup dream.

Few survive such agony, and it is much more difficult to come back strong than ever, but few can doubt the resilience and temperament of Misbah ul Haq.

In an interview to Pakistans sports anchor Mirza Iqbal Baig, the 42-year old revealed how he overcame the thrilling 2007 World T20 final in Johannesburg, reported SportsKeeda.

If I kept remembering Joginder Sharma and (Shanthakumaran) Sreesanth, I might have stopped playing cricket. I always believe that you leave the past behind, even the good things. Every day in cricket and life is a new day where you have to perform. If you dwell on the past or the future too much, performance becomes difficult. You can have regrets but there should be some limit so that it doesn't affect your present performances.

Misbah ul Haq has come a long way since the 2007 World Cup, taking Pakistan to greater heights. It was under his captaincy Pakistan became a powerhouse of Test cricket, claiming the Number One Test ranking for the first time, since the ranking system was established.
