ISLAMABAD: People of North Waziristan living in Khost province of Afghanistan have demanded Pakistani government to facilitate them to return their homes.
According to Radio Mashaal, people, who migrated from Pakistan's tribal area North Waziristan to Khost province of Afghanistan due to anti-militancy operation, said that they want to return to their homes and Pakistani government should facilitate them.
The tribal elders said that only opening roads is not enough for repatriation, adding that durable peace should be restored in their areas.
The tribal elders' demand comes at the time when Army Chief General Raheel Sharif visited Mirali area of North Waziristan two days go, where he said that all displaced persons should be repatriated by the end of this year.
However, Dr. Ashraf Ali, spokesman of SAFRON Ministry, said that repatriation of all displaced people is necessary for implementation of FATA reforms. "The first recommendation of the FATA reforms is that all displaced persons should be rehabilitated first," he said.
Responding to a question, he said that efforts have been made to return internally displaced persons.
Responding to another question regarding Pakistanis living in Afghanistan, the spokesman said that efforts will soon be made for repatriation of people living in Khost.
