Kaira appointed as PPP Punjab president

LAHORE: Former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has been appointed as president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab chapter while Nadeem Afzal Chan will be general secretary.

The decision was made and announced in a meeting of the PPP provincial coordination committee chaired by party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari here on Friday.

Addressing the media after his appointment, Kaira thanked the party leadership for the responsibility and said the PPP was a reality and it would re-emerge in Punjab with full vigour.

Kaira said the PPP nominated him for the president after deep consultation with workers which was a tradition of the party. He confirmed that consultations for other party office- bearers in the province was underway.
