Published January 15, 2005 Updated January 15, 2005 12:00am

Law enforcement agencies personnel got released 12 Wapda (water-wing) employees from the abductors on Friday afternoon. These employees had been kidnapped while they were on their way to Guddo Colony, on Wednesday. However, police team, headed by DPO Rajanpur Maqsood-ul-Hassan, did not reach police headquarters Rojhan.
Earlier, a spokesman for the police said law enforcement agencies (Baloch levy, Border military police, Elite force, Punjab Constabulary and police) had launched a search operation early Friday morning to recover the 12 Wapda employees, who were kidnapped at the gunpoint on January 12 from Shahwali in Rajanpur district.
Earlier more than 600 personnel had encircled the area of Pattan Somari and the last warning was issued to the kidnappers. "In response they released these Wapda men in the afternoon," said DPO Rajanpur Maqsood-ul-Hassan, who was supervising the operation.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Dera Ghazi Khan Range Humayun Raza Shafi told newsmen that it was a great success because 'we had got released all the employees without exchange of fires and encounter.'
However, he clarified that their abduction had no link with the Sui gas field situation.
