SEOUL: South Korean shares opened 2.41 percent higher Friday, boosted by Wall Street's strong overnight finish. The KOSPI was up 41.23 points at 1,751.55.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 1.68 percent, helped by greater confidence in banks and the retail sector and in Europe's push to ensure its banks remain stable in case of a Greek sovereign default.
