QUETTA: The provincial government has suggested allocation of over Rs 880 million in the Balochistan Budget 2016-17 for procurement of weapons, vehicles and modern equipment for Police and Levies Force to meet the challenges pertaining to law and order.
Delivering his budget speech in the Balochistan Assembly, here on Sunday evening, the Chief Minister, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri said that in past, Quetta experienced murder of laborers, targeted killings, terrorism, kidnapping of passengers for ransom from national highways and murders. He said that the incumbent government had been utilizing all available resources for improvement in law and order to provide safety and protection to masses.
"A sum of Rs 30.25 billion has been allocated in the Budget 2016-17 for law and order," he said, adding that Rs 130 million were suggested for procurement of modern and standard weapons and Rs 750.28 million for provision of modern equipments to Police and Levies Force, respectively.
He said that Balochistan Arms (Amendment) Bill 2015 has got approval from the Provincial Assembly and added that now it would be enforced into law. He added that legislation was made for bringing improvement in Criminal Justice System.
