Pakistan Railways (PR) administration has ordered inquiry into the incident of derailment of Karachi-Sialkot bound Allama Iqbal Express (9-Up) near Harappa Railway station on Tuesday.
According to a spokesman of the PR, the train left Harappa at 8.20 am and its five rear most coaches derailed at Kilometer No. 1041 between Harappa and Mirdad Muafi station at 8.25 am. There was no loss of life or injuries reported to any passengers in this accident.
The train left for Sialkot with remaining 13 passenger carriages to avoid unnecessary detention to other mail and express trains, the spokesman added.
As a result of this accident Quetta Express (23 Up), Tezgam (7 Up) and Karachi Express (15 Up) have been diverted via Shorkot-Faisalabad section. Down trains Shalimar Express (28DN) and Khyber Mail (2DN) diverted via Pakpattan. No one was killed or injured as a result of this accident. Cause of derailment is under investigation.
The rescue operation is being monitored by Chief Operating Superintendent personally, the spokesman added.
