The city of Karachi is already afflicted by numerous problems, traffic congestion and pollution are some of the biggest and the recent launch of super markets had added to the menace.
According to local media reports, the newly inaugurated Imtiaz Super Store at Gulshan-e-Iqbal has caught the attention of Karachiites, jam packed with customers the super store have also become the source of traffic jams as illegal parking are choking the city’s arteries.
Sharing his woes, a Karachiite on the condition of anonymity said to Business Recorder, “People have parked their vehicles right, at the main Rashid Minhas Road and the worst part is that the traffic police is covering it up.”
As per another media report, "There are traffic jams due to illegal parking on main roads due to these mega stores. But traffic police is unable to deal with this issue as the only job left to us is to check traffic violations, haphazard crossings, and stoppage of public transport," said a disgruntled official of city’s traffic police.
Previously, it was learnt the management of Imtiaz Superstore’s has given East Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asif Jan Siddiqui an undertaking that they have parking space for 300 vehicles within their newly inaugurated super-store.
