SYDNEY: Australian stocks opened just 0.14 percent higher on Friday despite Germany's parliament voting to boost the eurozone rescue fund and positive US economic data.
At 10:10 am (0010 GMT), the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was up 5.7 points at 4,014.0 after volatile European and American markets rallied overnight.
The commodities-linked Australian dollar was slightly lower at 97.78 US cents early in the session, from its 97.95 cents close on Thursday.
