FRANKFURT: German stocks were down more than 5.0 percent in late afternoon trading on Thursday, extending their earlier heavy losses after Wall Street opened sharply lower.
At around 1450 GMT, the blue-chip DAX 30 index hit an intraday low of 5,149.15 points, a drop of 5.23 percent on the day. It then came back off that low to show a loss of 4.93 percent at 5,165.96 points.
