ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction over the Karachi police report in social worker Parveen Rehman murder case.
The court directed the police to arrest the main accused and complete investigation in one month and submit comprehensive report in this regard.
The court directed the Inspector General Sindh Police to take personal interest for arresting the main accused involved in Parveen Rehman murder.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer heard the case filed by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
During the course of proceedings, Feroze Shah DIG Karachi appeared before the bench and submitted report reading steps taken to arrest the accused involved in Parveen Rehman murder.
The court rejected the report after reviewing and termed it unsatisfied. The DIG sought more time for the arrest of Raheem Swati.
Raheel Kamran counsel for the petitioner objected on this and stated that the court had already granted time to arrest Swati but the police failed to arrest him and repeatedly sought more time in this regard.
He pleaded the court to include an Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer in the joint investigation team formed to investigate the matter.
Justice Amir Hank Muslim remarked that the court cannot supervise the investigation process as it was an administrative matter.
Later, the court directed the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible and adjourned hearing of the case for one month.
