ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid said on Thursday that Pakistan and Germany will work jointly on human rights and climate change.
The Minister expressed these views during meeting with Germany Ambassador in Pakistan, Ina Lepel.
During the detailed meeting the German ambassador lauded present government's policy initiatives and programmes for improving present human rights situation and coping with climate change issues.
She appreciated the present government's heightened efforts to tap country's massive renewable and clean energy potential, particularly solar and wind.
Ina Lepel told the minister that her government is ready to help Pakistan improve its climate change resilience, disaster management, human rights and transfer clean and renewable energy technology.
The minister Zahid Hamid thanked the German ambassador and said, "Efforts will be made to benefit from the Germany's experience in the renewable and clean energy, disaster management, climate change and human rights and we will work with the Germany government on this score and on all scales."
He told the German ambassador that present Pakistani government was very much aware of the climate risks and taking all out measures to mitigate impacts of these risk and making efforts to make different socio-economic sectors, particularly water, sanitation, energy, food, health, education, agriculture sectors climate-resilience with the help of different climate change adaptation programmes in the light of the national climate change policy.
He added any technical help in this regard from Germany would be appreciated, he added.
