Pakistani prisoners in foreign jails to discuss Senate body

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior will meet here on Tuesday to discuss issues relating to Pakistani prisoner detained in different foreign jails, especially in Saudi Arabia.

Chairman of the Committee Senator Talha Mahmood will chair the meeting that will also discuss the steps taken by the government for the release and repatriation of the innocent Pakistani prisoners, especially those who were detained on petty charges.

The issue of missing prisoners and those who have completed their sentence period but still detained and reported to ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs will also be considered during the meeting.

The meeting will also discuss the updated position and steps taken for shifting of diplomatic missions and residences of diplomats from residential areas of Islamabad to the Diplomatic Enclave.

A press briefing will be held immediately after the meeting outside the Parliament House at about 1.30 p.m.
