Govt is taking measures for restore peace in Karachi: Durrani

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Local Bodies Minister Agha Siraj Durrani on Monday said that the issue Karachi was a political one and government was taking all measure for restoring peace in Karachi.

Talking to a private news channel on Monday, he said that the government is trying its level best to control the situation in Karachi.

Durrani said that whenever PPP comes to power, certain forces gear up their efforts to destabilize the government.

He said some target killers have been arrested in Karachi and they would be exposed before the media soon.

He said the situation in Karachi was being destabilized only to topple the PPP government.

"It is not the government of a dictator because the decisions are taken in democratic manner that always take time," he said.

Minister said that whenever MQM rejoins the government, we will be having talks with them because MQM are still our friends.

To a question, he said that if the Muttahida rejoins the coalition government then the Pakistan People's Party could hold local bodies' elections within 90 days.

"PPP is keen to see MQM rejoining the government in the larger interest of the country and the province," Durrani said.

He appealed to all political parties and other stakeholders to cooperate with the government for helping Karachi to regain its status of the city of lights and cradle of peace.
