abbasi-shaheed-hospitalKARACHI: The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has established a 40 bed dedicated "Dengue Ward," at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, said EDO -CDGK, Mohamamd Hussain Syed on Friday.

Chairing a meeting at the Central office of Saddar Town, to mark beginning of the first phase of city wide fumigation scheme in Karachi, he said 20 beds each have been reserved for men and women patients.

"All dengue suspected cases would be provided diagnostic and treatment facilities," said Mohammad Hussain Syed.

The EDO also announced that an agreement is also underway with a private laboratory for provision of platelet that may be needed to be transfused to dengue patients.

The Karachi City District Government chief said all measures are being taken to protect people against diseases as dengue, malaria and different infections.

He said mosquitoes and other insects that generally gain strength after rains and expose people to varied ailments have to be controlled and for this phase wise fumigation scheme is being initiated.

"For this purpose 21 vehicles mounted with insecticide spray machines will take rounds of the entire city in phases and ensure that breeding points may not grow," he elaborated.

Administrator, Saddar Town, Mansoor Memon appealed to the masses to cooperate with the city administration in the campaign.

The meeting was also attended by District Officer - Fumigation, Dr. Mansoor Shaikh, Focal Person - Dengue, Dr. Aslam Pervez, Sanitation Director, Mohammad Nasir and others.
