imageISLAMABAD: A candle light vigil was held outside the embassy of Pakistan in Paris Wednesday to remember the children who were killed in a terrorists attack by Taliban on Army Public School in Peshawar on Tuesday.

People from all walks of the French society gathered to express their solidarity with the victims of terrorism. Those who visited the embassy included diplomats, media representatives, officials of French Government, members of Pakistani community, officers and staff of the embassy of Pakistan in Paris and their families. Ambassadors of friendly countries in Paris and Director General UNESCO also came to pay their homage, said a message received here from Paris.

Speaking on the occasion Pakistan's ambassador to Paris Ghalib Iqbal thanked all those who attended the event. He said that the terrorists had attacked the most sensitive part of our society. He said that this cowardly act will not deter Pakistani nation from its resolve to take the war on terror to its logical end.

Ghalib said the whole nation is united to crush the monster of terrorism. He told the participants that solid steps were being taken to root out terrorism completely. For this purpose, the political leadership has shown its united willingness to stand firm against the terrorism, he added.

Director General UNESCO, Irina Bokova speaking on the occasion said that UNESCO and the whole world shared this moment of grief and sorrow with Pakistan and especially the parents of the children who lost their lives. She said that UNESCO will continue to strengthen its education related operations in Pakistan.

The event ended with Fateha for the departed souls.
