Former ambassador terms president's visit to Afghanistan 'very significant'

ISLAMABAD: Former Ambassador Anwar Kamal said on Tuesday that the current visit by President Asif Ali Zardari to Afghanistan is very significant keeping in view the situation as it now prevails in the region.

Talking to Pakistan Television he said that the cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan would increase as a result of this visit by the President .

He said Pakistani leadership and masses desired that peace should prevail in Afghanistan . He said without Pakistan's contribution, it was not possible to secure peace in Afghanistan.

Replying to a question, he said Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan and the United States in its capacity as the leading power can greatly help the efforts to establish peace in the region.
