LAHORE: The sugar rates in wholesale market are stable due to surplus stocks of sugar to millers.
The wholesale dealers of Akbari Mandi Sh Akmal Salim told this news agency on Thursday that ex-mill rate of 100 Kg bag of sugar is Rs. 6800, while wholesale rate is Rs. 6940 and retail rate is Rs. 74 per Kg in the open market.
Sh Akmal said that the sugar mills have 0.75 million surplus sugar bags in stocks and if the government would ensure check and balance system, sugar rates will not increase in the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan, he concluded.
