ISLAMABAD: Country Director Population Council, Dr Zeba A. Sattar has said that the population growth rate in Pakistan is 2 percent which is high as compared to some of our neighbouring countries.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, she said that awareness is necessary among the people regarding interval in the children and media should play its role in this regard.
She said Bangladesh controlled its population because of government will and education of girls and women in this connection.
Executive Director, National Institute of Population Studies, Abdul Basit Khan also said that basic work of our institute is to collect data from all the provinces and then provide it to policy makers.
He said with the 2 percent population growth rate; our population would be doubled in 2050.
He went on to say that both government and people should play role to control population.
