KARACHI: The divisional and district administration Karachi has challaned 100 shopkeepers and fine of Rs 3,11,000 were imposed for profiteering and violation of officially approved price list.
Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that the city administration has taken action in those areas from where the complaints of price hike were received which include Aram Bagh, Civil Line, Saddar, Ferozabad, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulzar Hijri, Mominabad, Gulberg, Liaquat Abad, North Nazimabad and New Karachi.
According to a statement issued here on Friday, during crackdown against profiteers 69 milk sellers, 11 flour sellers, one meat vendor, 18 chicken sellers and a food item grocer were fined.
Shoaib said that the campaign launched against profiteers would continue till its logical end.
