Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was observed at Port Qasim where five ships carrying containers, chemicals and Asphalt were allotted berths at QICT, Multi Purpose and EVTL Terminals respectively on Wednesday, June 15.
Meanwhile, three more ships scheduled to load/offload containers and furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was maintained at 90% at the Port on Wednesday where a total of twelve ships namely ACX Hibiscus, CGM Rossini, MV Alexi I, Abdull, Sam Eagle, Irini, Nahide-M, Golden Ambrosia, AI Salam II, Atena and MV. Catteric are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, wheat, chemicals, diesel oil, iron ore and Asphalt respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 74968 tannes, comprising 56114 tonnes imports and 18854 tonnes exports Inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1134 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
MV. AI Salam II, ACX Hibiscus, CGM Rossini, Golden Ambrosia and Abdul sailed out to sea on Thursday morning while MV Alexi-I and Catterick will sail later today.
Four ships MT. Kassos, Saigon Express, CSAV Jura and AI Azizoo are expected to take berths at FOTCO, QICT and M/W-1 Terminals respectively on Thursday, June 16.
