82 shopkeepers fined for profiteering

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration has fined 82 shopkeepers and fine of Rs1,64,500 were imposed for overcharging and violating officially approved price list.

According to a statement issued here on Thursday, during crackdown the district administration fined 54 milk sellers, four food items grocers, 17 chicken sellers, two fruit sellers and five vegetable sellers.

The action against profiteers were taken in the areas including Aram Bagh, Civil line, Gulshan Iqbal, Jamshed Quarters, Orangi, Gulberg, Bin Qasim and Shah Faisal.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi has said that the crackdown aganist profiteering will continue till its logical end.
