KARACHI: Karachi administration in its ongoing campaign against profiteers collected Rs 3,12,800 as fine from 275 shopkeepers, belonging to different parts of the city, for violating the official price list.
The commissioner house sources spearheading the campaign against the profiteers said Friday that one of the shopkeeper was also jailed for repeatedly violating the approved list.
Those challaned and fined included 42 milk sellers, 63 fruit sellers, 89 green grocers, 55 grocers, 24 chicken meat sellers, two meat sellers and 10 flour millers.
Officials have also appealed to the consumers to also necessarily check the official list, that must be available with each of the retailers and shopkeepers, before purchase and payment for the same to the shopkeeper.
They said complaints about retailers refusing to show the list, that must be prominently displayed by them, should be immediately made at the control room functional at commissioner office as well as each of the deputy commissioners' offices in the metropolis.
