MADRID: Spain's Treasury issued 3.4 billion euros ($4.90 billion) of bonds maturing in 2021 and 2024 on Wednesday, at the top end of the 2.5 billion to 3.5 billion euros target.

Average yields on the 10-year bond rose compared to the last time it was issued March 17 to 5.472 percent from 5.162 percent, while the 2024 bond, last issued in 2009, has a yield of 5.667 percent.

The Treasury issued 2.5 billion euros of the 2021 bond at a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.1 compared to 1.8 previously, and 885 million euros of the 2024 bond at a bid-to-cover of 2.3
