KARACHI: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) regards the degree of Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Tauqir Sadiq as fake Aaj News reported on Saturday.
However, Chairman OGRA claims that he earned his degree from London, but no record has been found either in America or England regarding that.
Prior to this his degree was challenged in the high court, whereas, the Islamabad High Court ordered an investigation into the authenticity of his degree.
Earlier, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani approved the appointment of Tauqir Sadiq as chairman of the authority and issued a notification about his appointment for a four-year term.
The post of chairman had been lying vacant since the retirement of OGRA`s first chairman Munir Ahmad who retired in October last year.
It may be mentioned that Tauqir Sadiq is brother-in-law of PPP secretary-general Jehangir Badar.
He was recently employed in the Wah Ordnance Factories and also served as registrar of the authority a few years ago.
