Yields on Egyptian T-bills edge higher

CAIRO: The average yield rose slightly on Egyptian 91-day and 266-day treasury bills auctioned on Sunday, figures released by the central bank showed.

The average yield on 91 day T-bills for issue on Feb. 5 rose to 12.914 percent, compared with 12.852 percent at the previous issue on Jan. 29.

The average yield on 266-day T-bills, also for issue on Feb. 5, rose to 13.972 percent from 13.692 percent at the previous issue on Jan. 22.

The central bank, which holds the auctions on behalf of the Finance Ministry, sold 91-day bills worth 1 billion Egyptian pounds ($148.92 million), the same as the amount it had offered.

It sold 3.5 billion pounds worth of 266-day T-bills, also the same amount it had offered.
