According to Indian media reports Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has been roundly praised by Indian celebrities and critics alike for her performance in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’.
Renowned Indian film critic Taran Ardarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: “The show belongs to Alia Bhatt, who takes giant strides in her very second film”
Mihir Fadnavis of Firstpost said: “Alia Bhatt is a major acting talent. “
Srijana Mitra Das of The Times of India said: "Highway belongs unabashedly to Alia Bhatt.”
Bollywood stars flocked to Twitter to express their awe at Bhatt’s magnificent performance and strongly recommended audience to watch the film, according to Press Trust of India.
Karan Johar, who launched Bhatt with ‘Student of the Year’, gushed with pride over his discovery.
“I felt like a proud Parent when I saw ‘Highway’… Alia Bhatt is exceptional!!,” KJo posted on the micro blogging site .
‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ actress Parineeti Chopra tweeted: “Go go go Aliaa!!! ‘Highway is going to be huge and you are going to be the best actress and biggest star ever! Guys don’t miss it.”
Director Shekhar Kapoor, who is best known for his films ‘Bandit Queen’ and ‘Elizabeth,’ claimed her to be the most promising entry in Bollywood.
“Randeep Hooda is absolutely brilliant. Alia is the most refreshing entry into Hindi Cinema in recent times.”
Scriptwriter Javed Akhtar went on to compare the 20-year-old actress to some of the industry legends.
"Milestones -Nargis in 'Mother India', Meena Kumari in 'Saheb Bibi', Nutan in 'Bandani', Shabana in 'Arth' and now Alia Bhatt in 'Highway,'" he tweeted.
In the Romantic Drama, released on 21st February, Bhatt plays the role of a wealthy Delhi girl who gets kidnapped by a gang of dacoits.
