imagePESHAWAR: An amount of Rs. 200 million has been allocated for construction of walled city with the support of Belgium University to revive lost legacy of provincial capital.

This was disclosed by Director Archaeology and Museum Dr Abdul Samad while talking to media persons here.

He said that beautification and embellishment work on boundary wall and 16 historic gates of provincial capital would be carried out in two phases.

In the first phase master plan for the proposed walled city would be made in the light of guidance by experts of Agha Khan Foundation and Lahore Wall City, he said, adding that in the second phase construction work would be initiated on the scheme.

Dr Samad told that Wall City Authority would also be set up that would ensure protection of boundary wall and historic gates of Peshawar.

He said that under the project renovation work would also be carried out in historic Sethi House, Gor Gatri, Dilip Kumar House, Ghanta Ghar and other historical places of Peshawar.

A walking track would also be constructed inside the boundary wall where vehicles would not be allowed, he added.
