SC six benches for next week

imageISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted six benches at the principal seat to hear a number of important cases in the next week starting from December 2 (Monday).

The first bench comprises of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and Justice Amir Hani Muslim is set to take up number of important cases including missing person's case, unconstitutional increase in petroleum prices, suo-moto notice regarding unprecedented load shedding in the country, rental power case, suo-moto action against grant of 450 and 200 illegal CNG stations licenses during the tenure two former prime ministers namely Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and Raja Pervez Ashraf respectively, contempt of court proceedings against Secretary Defence Asif Yaseen Malik, fake degree case, auction of the 3rd Generation Telecommunication Services & Transparent Licensing of 3G Services in Pakistan, suo-moto notice for arrest of accused involved in cases of torture and murder of advocates, suo-moto action regarding irregularities and illegalities in National Flag Carrier (PIA) and Assistant Director NAB Kamran Faisal murder case.

The second bench consist of Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed is set to resume hearing of the cases including challenging the appointment of Ch. Qamar Zaman as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Bank of Punjab corruption case and action against involvement of Former Chairman EOBI Zafar Iqbal Gondal, DG Investment in multibillion scam in Employees Old Age Benefit institute (EOBI).

The third bench include Justice Nasir-Ul-Mulk, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman will hear the cases including election matters of different parliamentarians and local body election case. The fourth bench consists of Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Mushir Alam.

The two-member fifth bench includes Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and the sixth bench comprises Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Muhammad Ather Saeed. According to cause lists, no adjournment on any ground will be granted and no application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the Court.

If the counsel is unable to appear for any reason, the advocate-on-Record will be required to argue the case.
