Hungary Flag 400BUDAPEST: Hungary's trade surplus increased to 575.1 million euros ($743.4 million) in August from the previous month, as exports grew faster than imports, official data showed Tuesday.

In July, the surplus stood at 457.4 million euros, while in August 2011 it was 454.4 million euros.

The August 2012 figure was helped by exports, which increased by 2.1 percent month-on-month to 6.59 billion euros, while imports remained stable at 6.0 billion euros.

Over the first eight months of the year, Hungary registered a trade surplus of 4.67 billion euros.

In 2011, it had a surplus of 6.89 billion euros over the whole year, up from 5.52 billion euros in 2010.
