TroutPESHAWAR: 50,000 metric ton Trout fish have been ordered from Gulf States.

This was cited by Omar Hayat Khan, consultant, Swat Trout Fish Farms Association (STFFA) on Monday.

Talking to APP, he said that  fish farmers have started preparation to meet the required demand of Trout fish to the exporters. The fish known for its unique taste, he said, would be provided at US$ 5 per kilogram.

The militancy and terrorism from 2007-09 have badly damaged the fish farming in the district Swat. The delicious Trout fish is great attraction for both local and foreign tourists, he said.

The fish hatcheries of Swat have been revived with the assistance of USAID.After the revival of these fish farms in Swat a project for the development of Trout fish farms in Dir Upper and Chitral districts is also under consideration, Hayat informed.

He said that the fish farmers of Swat were fully capable to meet the required demand and the farmers were planning to export 0.1 million metric ton fish next year.
