All Private School Association (APSA) has announced to keep schools closed in the federal capital today (Thursday) in view of JUI-F's 'Azadi March.' However, another smaller group announced to keep private schools open while, the government schools will also remain open on Thursday. National University of Modern Languages (NUML) has postponed the midterm exam of the university scheduled from Nov 1. The said exams will now be held from Nov 8.
All Private School Association secretary Abdul Waheed Khan said any untoward incident may take place due to the sit-in, and considering this situation, all private schools will remain closed. He added, "The security of children is our primary responsibility and for this sake, we have decided to keep schools closed."
The decision of opening schools on Friday will be taken by Thursday's evening after analyzing the scenario, the secretary told. APSA president Zafran Ellahi said private schools would remain closed on Thursday. All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association president Malik Ibrar said private schools would remain open as the participants of Azadi March would reach late on Thursday. There is no point to close the schools. However, he said if the government announces to shut the schools, they would follow the same instructions.
