Deputy Mayor Karachi Syed Arshad Hassan on Thursday gave assurance to pay fire allowance to the protesting fire department employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) by Friday (today) as the finance department has completed work in this connection. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting at his office to review the problems of fire brigade department.
The meeting was attended by the financial adviser Dr Asghar Abbas Shaikh, chief fire officer Tehsin-ur-Rehman, representatives of fire fighters and office-bearers of MQM Labour Division.
Deputy mayor said the fire brigade department is the backbone of the civic body as it secures the lives and properties of citizens, putting their own lives in danger. With efforts of Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar this department has been provided with equipment and other necessary apparatus with a cost of Rs 160 million.
