CBOT corn see saws amid uncertainty over US plantings

CHICAGO: Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) corn veered between gains and losses on Monday as planting delays fueled uncertainty over the size of the US crop, traders.
* CBOT July corn closed flat at $4.15-3/4 a bushel.
* The US Department of Agriculture on Tuesday is expected to trim its estimates for corn and soybean yields from May in a monthly supply and demand report due to plantings delayed by rainy weather.
* The USDA, in a separate, weekly crop progress report due at 3 p.m. CDT (2000 GMT) on Monday, is expected to report that farmers had planted 83% of the US corn crop as of Sunday, according to a Reuters poll. That would be up from 67% complete as of June 2.
* Analysts on average expect the USDA to rate 54% of the crop as good to excellent in Monday's report. Estimates ranged widely from 35% to 68% good-to-excellent, reflecting uncertainty over its condition.
* US weather firm Maxar said dry weather across the heart of the corn belt was favorable for planting yet to be done.
* Farmers have struggled with widespread planting delays due to wet weather this spring, and normally corn seeding is complete by this point in the season.
