Meesha Shafi follows suit after other female artists reject their Lux Style nominations

Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi along with clothing brand Generation and makeup and hair artist Saima Bargfrede have rejected their Lux Style Awards nominations as part of #MeToo campaign.

Meesha has asked the LSA to remove her song 'Mein' from its list of ‘Best Song’ nominations, along with other artistes.  Meesha in a tweet said, “I want to thank Eman Suleman. What she, Generation and Saima Bargfrede have said and done is what I consider my award”.

She further added, “Our boycotts should not overshadow our achievements. With brave women like these, I feel optimistic about getting there one day”.

The rejection of LSA nomination began with the emerging model Eman Suleman. She was the first to reject her nomination as a protest against the inclusion of an artist accused of sexual harassment in this year's Lux Style Awards nominations.

Without mentioning the name, these female artistes are protesting against Ali Zafar’s nomination in ‘Best Actor’ category. Ali has been accused of sexually harassing singer Meesha Shafi last year.
