 KARACHI: After witnessing bullish trend during last many sessions, the investors on Thursday opted for profit taking on available margins and the KSE-100 index lost 87.75 points to close at 12,515.92 points.

The market opened on positive note and the index hit 12,623.88 points intra-day high. However, this trend could not continue due to selling by both local and foreign investors and the index dropped into negative zone at 12,499.81 points intra-day low level.

Trading activities also remained low as the volumes at ready counter declined to 178.045 million shares as compared to 272.371 million shares. Total market capitalization reduced by Rs 23 billion to stand at Rs 3.263 trillion. Of the total 347 active stocks, 160 closed in negative and 112 in positive while the value of 75 stocks remained unchanged.

Jahangir Siddiqui Co was the volume leader with 41.019 million shares and gained Rs 0.62 to close at Rs 10.37. Azgard Nine inched up by Rs 0.34 to close at Rs 7.45 with 18.159 million shares. Fatima Fertilizer Co lost Rs 0.16 to close at Rs 23.84 with 10.018 million shares. Pace (Pak) Limited closed at Rs 2.27, up Rs 0.11 with 10.007 million shares.

In the banking sector, BoP, Bank Al Falah and Soneri Bank declined by Rs 0.12, Rs0.04 and Rs 0.08 to close at Rs 8.28, Rs 13.84 and Rs 5.80 with 6.793 million shares, 6.079 million shares and 5.911 million shares respectively.

DG Khan Cement lost Rs 0.09 to close at Rs 25.93 with 5.811 million shares. Nishat Power declined by Rs 0.99 to close at Rs 14.83 with 5.393 million shares. TRG Pakistan closed at Rs 2.46, down Rs 0.02 with 4.348 million shares.

Unilever Foods and Colgate Palmolive were the highest gainers increasing by Rs 76.23 and Rs 34.80 to close at Rs 1776.23 and Rs 784.80 respectively while Unilever Pak and Shezan International were the worst losers declining by Rs 46.20 and Rs 4.86 to close at Rs 5555.00 and Rs 111.52 respectively.
