Arrangements finalized for by-election in NA-9, Mardan

 PESHAWAR: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized the arrangements for holding by elections in constituency NA-9, Mardan-I being held on 25 February, in a transparent, free and fair manner.

The Provincial Election Commissioner, KP, Sher Afghan has directed all the polling staff to follow the instruction of ECP for holding the by-elections in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Polling in constituency will start at 08:00 a.m and will continue till 05:00 p.m without any interval. However, those who will be present within the polling station beyond 5:00 p.m will be allowed to cost their votes.

Public holiday has been declared in the constituency on the polling day.

There are 250,459 registered voters including 152,114 male and 98,345 female voters. Total 214 polling stations have been set up comprising 63 for male and 51 for female while 100 polling stations have been established as combined.

Total 540 polling booths including 322 for male and 218 for female have been set up. 52 polling stations have been declared as most sensitive while 94 as sensitive and 68 polling station have been declared as normal.

All presiding officers have been authorized to act as first class Magistrate on the polling day to avoid any untoward situation. 214 presiding officers, 540 assistant presiding officers and 214 polling officers have been appointed who have already been given necessary training.

In total 9 candidates are in run including Mst. Asia Naz Awan, Hamayatullah Mayar, Zulqarnain, Said Umar Alias Member, Abid Khan, Muhammad Sarfaraz Khan, Muhammad Nawab Alias Chuna, Mulana Shujaulmulk and Yasir Ali.
