mansoor-ijazKARACHI: The Judicial Commission probing the “memogate” scandal has directed Mansoor Ijaz to let Husain Haqqani's council Zahid Bukhari cross-examine Ijaz, but said forensic examination of evidence would not be necessary at this point in time, the media reported on Thursday.

On Thursday, Ijaz told the court that Haqqani, in the messages, said that the government needs to be strengthened against the “bad boy”, referring to army or ISI chief.

To a question Ijaz said the message can be sent through email.

Mansoor Ijaz said that the Blackberry was in his use, which can be verified.

Ijaz told the court further that the first draft was sent to Husain Haqqani on May 9, 2011, at 9:32pm.

On Wednesday, Zahid Bukhari applied for forensic examination of evidence provided by Mansoor Ijaz to the commission and his cross-examination in London.

The hearing of the key figure in the memogate case Mansoor Ijaz is underway at the Pakistan's High Commission in London.

Secretary Memo Commission Raja Jawad Abbas and lawyer of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Rashid A. Rizvi are in London while Husain Haqqani's council Zahid Bukhari and Mansoor Ijaz's lawyer Akram Sheikh are in Pakistan.

The judicial commission is headed by Chief Justice Balochistan High Court, Qazi Faiz Isa, while other two members are Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Musheer Alam and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court, Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman.
