Eid-ul-Fitr today

Eid-ul-Fitr marking the culmination of the holy month of Ramazan is being celebrated throughout the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday (today) with great religious fervour and festivity. The faithful will offer Eid prayers at mosques, Eidgahs and open places across the country. Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the law enforcing agencies. After offering Eid prayers, the faithful would exchange Eid greetings. The faithful would also visit graveyards to pay respect to their family members who have left to this world.
On the occasion, special prayers would be offered for the progress and prosperity of the country and well-being of Muslim Ummah. During Eid sermons, Ulema will highlight the importance of Eid and ask the Muslim to remember their needy brothers in the festivity of Eid. Prayers will be held for the prosperity and well-being of the country and freedom of held Kashmir and Palestine.
Newspapers will bring out special supplements while radio and TV channels will present special programmes. The government has already declared Eid holidays from June 15 to 18.
In Lahore, Eid prayers will be offered at mosques, open places and Eidgahs. The main Eid congregations will be held at Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar Mosques, Jamia Ashrafia, Masjid Ibrahim, Minhaj ul Quran, Majid-e-Shuhda, Darus Salam and many others. The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar will celebrate Eid in Lahore. He is also expected to visit Fountain House to distribute Eid gifts among the patients.
Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in Lahore. He will visit Child Protection Bureau to spend time with orphan and abandoned children on Eid day. He will also distribute Eid gifts among them. Moreover, caretaker CM Punjab Dr Hasan Askari, in his message, congratulated the nation on the happy occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
He said the day brings the message of love, affection and brotherhood and teaches us to include the deprived segments of the society in the joys of Eid. Providing an opportunity to the impecunious strata to enjoy the happy occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr is our religious and moral obligation, he said, adding: "We should also remember the great sacrifices of those martyrs who have rendered their lives for the defense of the beloved motherland. The great sacrifices of martyrs of war against terrorism cannot be forgotten and it is our collective responsibility to include the families of martyrs in the joys of Eid."
